Mitzvahs (at the Met)

Ah, the Mitzvah. The perfect example of what two parties in one event feels and looks like.

There are two different menus. Catering to the adults, we have two to three buffets of specialty and themed food (Italian, Mediterranean, Pan-Asian, etc), and catering to the kids, we have cheese pizza, chicken tenders, french fries, sliders, and more. The kids never usually stray from their food, but always a few adults stop by the kid’s buffet and fill up on their food.

There are two different timelines. The adults enter the party and head to cocktail hour while the food opens for the kids (most of the time) and the DJ keeps them entertained. After the grand entrance and the adults are eating, the kids are on the dance floor dancing and playing games, since they have already been served.

It all converges at the hora, in which after the bar or bat mitzvah is lifted up and paraded by all the guests. After maybe a video montage, everyone gets dessert and dances for the rest of the night.

We love a good mitzvah. Honestly, they keep us in top form. Executing them perfectly is an art and they require a ton of preparation on the back end. But of course, we’re up to the challenge.
